The most talked about title in the Signals: Regained section of the festival is Igor Mayboroda's Rerberg and Tarkovsky: The Reverse side of "Stalker". It has received a chilly reception from most critics and casual viewers, many of whom have commented on its ungainly length and lack of polish. Perhaps more troubling is that the dead cannot speak for themselves; in a film that attempts to posit Gregori Rerberg as the real genius behind Tarkovsky's later efforts, it lacks a convincing case against Tarkovsky and relies largely on slander to do its bidding. I can't wait for the six hour version apparently in the works.
